36-year-old Nagelsmann tasked with fixing ‘rusty chariot’…will lead Germany to Euro2024

Julian Nagelsmann, 36, has been tapped to fix the “rusty chariot.
The German Football Association (DFB) has agreed with Nagelsmann to coach the German national soccer team until the European Football Championship in 2024 (Euro 2024), German newspaper Bild reported on Monday (June 19). Germany is the host nation for Euro 2024.

The DFB has not yet made an official announcement. According to Bild, the two sides have agreed on the broad outlines and are working on the details of the contract. Nagelsmann’s monthly salary is reportedly 400,000 euros ($568.4 million).

Nagelsmann replaces Hanji Flick, who was sacked for poor performance on Sept. 10, a day after a 1-4 loss in an exhibition match against Japan.

Nagelsmann has been touted as a “young master” after his performances at Hoffenheim from 2016 to 2019 and Leipzig from 2019 to 2021. 안전놀이터

He used this as an asset to take over at Bayern Munich, Germany’s most prestigious club, in April 2021. He won the German Bundesliga title in the 2021-2022 season, but was sacked in March after failing to meet expectations in the UEFA Champions League and DFB Pokal.

Earlier, Bayern Munich had announced that they would terminate Nagelsmann’s contract, which runs through 2026, to allow him to take charge of the national team as a free agent.

With Nagelsmann at the helm, the German national soccer team will face the United States and Mexico in away games next month. They will then face Austria at the end of the year.
