Hiura stayed in Milwaukee.
MLB.com, the official MLB website, announced on March 29 (Korean time) that Caston Hiura will remain with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Hiura, who failed to join the Milwaukee opening roster, was designated for assignment (DFA) and passed all waiver procedures without claim. And on that day, the contract was transferred to the Triple A Nashville Sounds.
Hiura, an infielder born in 1996, is a top-class prospect selected by Milwaukee with the ninth overall pick in the first round of the 2017 rookie draft. He made his debut in 2019 and performed well in his debut season, but suffered injuries and sluggishness afterwards and failed to meet the team’s expectations. His career performance in four big league seasons was 284 games, .238/.318/.453 with 50 home runs, 132 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. 바카라
As a young 26-year-old, other clubs could have been interested, but the $2.2 million salary seems to be a stumbling block. It’s not a lot of money, but no team has appeared willing to invest $2.2 million in a player who continues to struggle in the major leagues.
With Hiura passing the waiver without a claim, Milwaukee will be able to give the top prospect another chance. According to MLB.com, Milwaukee general manager Matt Arnold said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Hiura returns to the big leagues. He can come back and be an important part of the team.”
