‘Kim Min-jae 45’ as Munich lose 0-3 to Leipzig in Super Cup…Kane comes off the bench too

Bayern Munich failed to win the Super Cup.

Thomas Tuchel’s men lost the 2023/2024 DFL Super Cup to Leipzig 0-3 on Wednesday (Aug. 3) at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, after Dani Olmo scored a hat trick.

Munich deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation. The front line was led by Mathis Thiel. Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musalla, and Leroy Sane formed the second line.

Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Reimer guarded the midfield. The back four was made up of Alfonso Davies, Matthijs de Licht, Dayo Upamecano, and Benjamin Pavard. Sven Ulreich wore the goalkeeping gloves.

Leipzig countered with a 4-4-2 formation. Dani Olmo, Lois Offenda, Timo Werner, Xavi Simmons, Xavier Schlager, Nicolas Zeiwald, David Raum, Orban Billi, Mohamed Simakan, Benjamin Henriks, and Janis Blasvić started.

Leipzig struck first. In the third minute of the first half, a scuffle broke out in the penalty box after a free kick. Olmo calmly slotted the ball home from the spot to rattle Munich’s net.

Munich fought back. In the 16th minute, Tell found himself one-on-one with the keeper after a pass from Nabry, but his shot was straight at the keeper.

The first half would not end this way. In the 44th minute, Werner’s pass found Olmo. Olmo used a tricky move to outrun his defender and score again with a sharp shot.

Munich made a change at the start of the second half. They brought on Kim Min-jae, Nusair Mazroui, and Komang for De Ligt, Reimer, and Favre to freshen things up.

The substitutions paid off to some extent. In the 12th minute of the second half, Moussaallah met a low cross from Mazrawi with a non-stop shot. But the ball went over the bar. 안전놀이터

Harry Kane was also brought on to show his determination to win. Munich tried to get at Leipzig’s goal in the 18th minute of the second half when they brought on Kane for Teller.

However, it was Leipzig who broke through. In the 23rd minute, the ball struck Mazrawi’s arm and a penalty was immediately awarded. Olmo stepped up to the spot and neatly completed his hat trick.

Munich didn’t give up. They kept Leipzig at bay and tried to find an equalizer, but no more goals were scored and the game ended 0-3.
