‘Geek pitcher’ Jack Greinke (40) remains with the Kansas City Royals. Even in the twilight years of his career, he chose to play with his old team rather than win the World Series. 

Kansas City officially announced a one-year contract with free agent right-handed pitcher Greinke on the 4th (hereafter Korean time). The club did not disclose the terms of the contract, but according to reporter John Heyman of the ‘New York Post’, Greinke will receive up to $16 million in guarantees of $8.5 million and incentives of $7.5 million. 

Greinke, who debuted in 2004 after being selected by Kansas City with the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2002 draft, won the 2009 American League Cy Young Award. He spent his first seven seasons with Kansas City until 2010, then from 2011 through the Milwaukee Brewers, LA Angels, LA Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Houston Astros.  먹튀검증

In addition to the Cy Young Young, Greinke, who boasts a career of 6 All-Stars and 2 ERA titles, also won large free agent contracts twice with the Dodgers and Arizona. However, he does not have a World Series championship ring. He reached the World Series twice with Houston in 2019 and 2021, but had to be content with runner-up in all of them. Great pitchers Clayton Kershaw (LA Dodgers), Justin Verlander, and Max Scherzer (New York Mets) all won the World Series during the same period, but Greinke still has no ring. 

But Greinke is no longer chasing championships. Last year, he obtained free agent status and returned to Kansas City after 12 years. He signed a one-year, $13 million contract. Kansas City was in a period of decline after winning the World Series in 2015, but Greinke returned to the heart of water polo.
